On November 17, during the 30th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP30) held in Belém, Brazil, the Publicity and Education Center of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, together with the Da Dao Center for Climate Change Action, jointly released the \"2025 Collection of Cases on Corporate (Industrial Park) Climate Actions\" at the conference’s news center. The innovative practice case titled \"Empowering the ‘Eastern Hydrogen Island’ to Create a New Zero-Carbon Benchmark\" from Qingdao Refining and Chemical Industry was included in this collection, making it the only case from the petrochemical industry to be selected. It is understood that the case collection is released globally in both Chinese and English, aiming to share the innovative practices and achievements of Chinese companies in addressing climate change and to promote global cooperation on green and low-carbon transformation. Over the past seven years, the \"Corporate Climate Action Case Studies\" have compiled 137 outstanding examples, inspiring and encouraging more companies to take action to reduce emissions through innovation. They have also demonstrated the pioneering efforts and exemplary role of Chinese enterprises in addressing climate change on the international stage. This year, a total of 27 corporate climate action cases from companies such as Qingdao Refining & Chemical, **the power grid, Tencent Technologies, and Chery Automobile were included – these companies excelled in terms of corporate governance and public engagement. They provide practical pathways for transformation across different industries, offering significant impact and potential for replication. In recent years, Qingdao Refining & Chemical has proactively aligned itself with the trend of green and low-carbon development, striving to establish a production model that is green, low-carbon, circular, and sustainable. It has seized the opportunities presented by the hydrogen energy industry, focusing on the integration of hydrogen energy with green electricity. The company has established China’s first research project for producing hydrogen from seawater on an industrial scale, as well as China’s first floating photovoltaic power plant operating in a fully seawater-based environment. It has also received certification as China’s first carbon-neutral hydrogen refueling station, becoming the only fuel cell hydrogen supply center in the Jiaodong region. Additionally, it was included in the “Hydrogen to Every Home” technology demonstration project, providing a replicable model for traditional energy companies to undertake their green and low-carbon transformation. The global effort to address climate change is not a 100-meter race, but rather an endless marathon. The petrochemical industry in China will, as always, adhere to a long-term perspective and pursue technological innovation. Through practices in green manufacturing, it will make positive contributions to achieving carbon neutrality, help build a new ecosystem for a low-carbon and sustainable energy industry, and foster harmonious coexistence among enterprises, society, and the environment.
