Sulfur is a hazardous material, including liquid sulfur and solid sulfur. For transportation, liquid sulfur is transported using specialized chemical vehicles. Solid sulfur can be transported as ordinary cargo, although there may be restrictions in some areas, such as Xinjiang. Sulfur powder can be transported as ordinary cargo. The relevant standard is GB/T 2449.1-2014, which is available for reference.
It’s really informative. I always thought that sulfur is a hazardous chemical in whatever form it may be.
After learning about it, I realized that liquids generally can’t be transported casually; I wasn’t aware of that regarding solids
Appendix A of GB12268-2012, the List of Names of Dangerous Goods, stipulates that sulfur, when in a certain form such as small balls, particles, pellets, ingots, or flakes, does not need to be transported as a dangerous good.
