Regarding the requirements for the location of the air intake of the main sulfur recovery fan: In order to prevent combustible gases from auxiliary equipment from leaking into the fan’s air supply lines and causing hazards (as is typically discussed in HAZID analyses), are there any requirements regarding the location of the main fan’s air intake? Or are there any standards or regulations that specify such requirements? Please, everyone, discuss this. Thank you!
Consult the local meteorological service to obtain historical wind rose diagrams; based on these diagrams, locate the intake at the upwind side, and avoid constructing it in areas where flammable gases may be present under the most severe climate conditions. For those with special needs, it must also be built at a distance, upwind, with pressurized air delivered over long distances; of course, this depends on the actual requirements, for reference only.
