Dear colleagues, I have a question for everyone: Do oil refineries and facilities dealing with acidic water containing hydrogen sulfide have strict oil removal processes before such water enters the acidic water stripping tower? If so, what methods are generally used for degreasing?
There are acid water degassing tanks and acid water degreasers; there are two large acid water tanks, and finally the acid water goes to the vaporization tower
There don’t seem to be many models with oil removers; they rely on sedimentation and separation in the acidic water tank, as long as there is sufficient residence time.
This post was last edited by qugd on 2022-9-8 at 16:28. Whether oil removal measures are needed depends mainly on the likelihood that the acidic source upstream contains oil. In general petrochemical production units, especially some distillate hydrogenation units, it is difficult to prevent the acidic water stream from containing oil; therefore, oil removal and separation measures are advisable for the subsequent acidic water stripping process. As for the acidic gases generated during the processing of some low-boiling-point gases, they essentially contain no oil; therefore, by introducing these acidic vapors earlier in the process, it becomes unnecessary to implement oil removal measures.
Question: How can acidic water be used to remove oil?
