On February 20, the first public announcement regarding the environmental impact assessment for the project to produce 1,500 tons per year of high-end fluoropolymers was made. The project makes use of the available space within the premises of Fujian Kerun Century Hydrogen Energy Materials Co., Ltd., and by building on the existing facilities, it constructs Class A production units, Class C workshops, warehouses, auxiliary buildings, as well as various production support facilities. The annual output will be 450 tons of perfluorosulfonic acid resin, 1,000 tons of polytetrafluoroethylene resin, 50 tons of perfluoroether rubber, along with various intermediates, precursor monomers, by-products, and other related materials. Fujian Kerun Century Hydrogen Energy Materials Co., Ltd. (referred to as “Fujian Kerun”) is a wholly-owned subsidiary established by Suzhou Kerun New Materials Co., Ltd. (referred to as “Suzhou Kerun”). Its parent company, Suzhou Kerun, was founded by Mr. Yang Dawei, an expert under the National Talent Program; it is the only enterprise in Jiangsu Province dedicated to the research, development, production, and sales of perfluorinated proton exchange membranes. In 2022, Fujian Kerun Century Hydrogen Energy Materials Co., Ltd. officially launched the first phase of a project to produce fluorine-containing fine chemicals needed for the manufacture of proton exchange membranes, with an annual production capacity of 5 million square meters. The total investment in this project is approximately 170 million yuan. Upon completion, it will be capable of producing 90 tons of perfluorosulfonyl lactone per year, 45 tons of perfluorosulfonyl fluoride ethoxypropyl vinyl ether (PSVE), 2.5 tons of perfluoropropyl vinyl ether (PPVE), 50 tons of perfluorosulfonic acid resin (PFSA), 50 tons of melt-processable polytetrafluoroethylene resin (PFA), and 2 tons of perfluoroelastomer (FFKM). At present, the project has been partially completed and put into operation; the production lines capable of producing 90 tons of tetrafluorosulfonyl lactone, 45 tons of perfluorosulfonyl fluoride ethoxypropyl vinyl ether (PSVE), and 50 tons of perfluorosulfonic acid resin (PFSA), along with the associated environmental protection facilities, have all passed the completion inspection.
