Recently, an announcement was made regarding the approval of Shandong Qingyuan Nongguan Crop Science Co., Ltd.’s project to produce 1,000 tons of fluroxypyr per year. The project is located in the Weifang Binhai Chemical Industry Park, within the Weifang Binhai Economic and Technological Development Zone, on the existing premises of Shandong Qingyuan Nongguan Crop Science Co., Ltd. The total area covered by the project is approximately 115.2 square meters. One set of production facilities for fluroxypyr will be constructed here, and 50 pieces of equipment, including recovery reactors, synthesis reactors, washing reactors, solvent removal reactors, pumps, and centrifuges, will be purchased. The raw materials used in this project are fluoromethane sulfonate, furfuryl alcohol, tetraisopropyl titanate, toluene, etc. Upon completion of the project, it will have a production capacity of 1,000 tons per year of fluroxypyr. The total investment for the project is 10 million yuan, of which 1.1 million yuan is allocated to environmental protection measures, accounting for 11% of the total investment. Fluorochloroacetoxim is a pyridoxycarboxylic acid herbicide independently developed by Qingyuan Nongguan in 2019; its mode of action is presumed to be similar to that of isooctyl fluoroxypropionate, as it causes weeds to die by interfering with nucleic acid and protein synthesis within the plants. The chemical name of fluroxypyr is fluoroxyacetic acid butyl ester, with the molecular formula C₁₃H₁₅Cl₂FN₂O₄ and a relative molecular mass of 353.174. This herbicide has good temperature adaptability, and its weed-killing speed is faster in high-temperature environments. It is primarily used as a non-selective, broad-spectrum herbicide, suitable for weed control in uncultivated areas such as barren hills, slopes, roadsides, and ditches; it can also be used for weed control between rows in some orchards. It has not yet been widely adopted in grassland lawns, pastures, and cereal crops. Its weed control spectrum includes grassy weeds such as barnyard grass, crabgrass, foxtail, and switchgrass, as well as annual and perennial broadleaf weeds like abutilon, shepherd’s purse, burdock, cocklebur, and daylily; it also has a certain effect on sedgy weeds. Market registration status: In June 2024, the 98% technical grade of fluroxypyr was registered in China (for export only to Cambodia), and in July 2025 it was included in the list of new pesticide products pending approval.
