Request topic: Prevention of sand loss during backfilling of underground pipelines throughout the plant. Problem overview: The project is located on an island; the geology consists of an island bedrock area and a backfill area. The backfill area is filled with 30 CM thick stones and pond debris, has large gaps between these materials, has a high groundwater level, and is affected by tides, resulting in significant fluctuations in water levels. The plant’s underground pipeline network spans 260 KM, with sea sand being used as the backfill material. Due to the presence of tides, and as time passes, the backfill sand may be carried away by the receding seawater. This leads to two problems: 1. loss of backfill sand resulting in ground subsidence, 2. economic losses, and 3. damage to the anti-corrosion coating of underground pipes. Preliminary measures: It is proposed to wrap the backfill sand with geotextiles to prevent sand loss. But there is no similar experience in this area, so I’m not sure if it’s feasible. I am urgently seeking experts with experience in this area to help resolve the above issues; I hope fellow netizens can offer their assistance.
