Why is it necessary to carry out soot blowing and blowdown frequently during boiler operation?
This is because the thermal conductivity of ash and scale is much lower than that of metals; in other words, their thermal resistance is higher. If ash accumulates outside the tubes of the heating surface or scale forms inside them, it not only disrupts the normal heat transfer process and leads to fuel waste, but it also increases the temperature of the metal walls, potentially causing overheating and damage, thereby threatening the safe operation of the boiler equipment. Therefore, during boiler operation, soot blowing and slag removal must be carried out regularly, and the quality of steam and water must be maintained at acceptable levels, in order to keep the inner and outer surfaces of the heat transfer tubes clean, facilitate proper heat transfer, and ensure the safe operation of the boiler unit.
