The chemical industry is a high-risk sector, especially when it comes to on-site production. There are many mistakes made by those who are new to this work and have just started working in the production teams – things like not wearing safety helmets or throwing objects from heights. They think these actions aren’t a big deal, but in fact they are serious violations of regulations. Do you remember the first time you got burned, or the time your head was close to a pipeline and you almost got hit by an object falling from above? Please share your own experiences of those first times in this industry, so that others can avoid making the same mistakes.
When I first started working at the chemical plant, I was an operator working outdoors, and a mentor took care of me. The first time I entered the plant’s equipment area, I hit my head; since then, I’ve been less hurried when entering that area.

This is quite common: the brim of a safety helmet blocks part of the view, and since the helmet has a certain height, it creates an illusion regarding distances, which makes it easy to hit one’s head. You have to experience this several times before you remember it
That’s right; if it happens again later on, one just *takes it for granted*. But if you’re not wearing a helmet, it can be really painful.
Every time the management fails to follow the instructions and rushes to start production, I feel it’s dangerous
As the design representative of the design institute, while dealing with construction issues at the construction site of a project, a crane located 5 meters away from me overturned due to unstable placement of its leg supports. When the section of steel pipe being lifted hit the ground, mud splashed all over me. I was drenched in sweat at that time, and I was scared for over half a month. It remains fresh in my memory to this day.
There are many such situations; sometimes, even though one has taken all necessary safety measures, danger still arises. While taking care of one’s own safety, it is also important to urge and supervise others, as safety is of utmost importance.
