The flare line is a lifeline for the company in case of emergencies; new pipelines are welded using pressure-bearing drilling techniques without shutting down operations. From a risk perspective, this approach involves extremely high risks. In the event of welding problems or other issues, the flare line cannot be used, forcing a shutdown. However, during a shutdown, large amounts of gas are released, increasing the likelihood of accidents at the areas where welding has not been successful. Could you all please give some guidance on how to stop this type of construction in accordance with those regulations? Thank you

There is no isolation, the work is carried out under pressure, and new pipelines have to be welded – won’t that cause problems?

Pressurized opening is widely used in the chemical industry, with different pressure levels. The main risk lies in the welding of valves and piping prior to performing pressurized opening; welding is a highly dangerous task, and of course, it is greatly influenced by the medium present in the original pipeline. Generally speaking, the flow of the medium within the pipeline can reduce risks; the lighter the oil product, the greater the danger. During welding, the temperature to which the pipeline is heated is very high. Our company has used pressure-containing hole drilling for lubricating oil lines, steam lines, nitrogen lines, acidic gas vent lines, and ammonia vent lines, as well as on pressure vessels.
