In the Jinyu Petrochemical incident involving 6.5 tons of material, a large amount of LPG leaked due to the detachment of the quick-connect fitting at the liquid-phase connection port during loading and unloading. Apart from the gas-liquid phase connection port, could leaks occur in other areas as well on the tank truck?
Liquefied hydrocarbons are loaded and unloaded using articulated arms, and with protective measures such as pipeline isolation valves, breakaway valves, and 10M external isolation valves, large-scale leaks generally do not occur. Quick connectors use dual clips and are protected by clamping bands and tightening bolts; connections such as pipeline valves, dip pipes, and adapters should be regularly inspected and maintained. When vehicles enter the facility, the valves, level gauges, and safety valves must be carefully checked. Collision protection is installed at the crane position; with these measures in place, the only potential sources of leakage are vehicle movement or the startup of a vehicle with the crane hose still attached, as these situations can lead to significant leaks. After all, the force applied to the shut-off valve is limited.
