Storage tanks used to hold flammable and explosive materials are required by regulations to be equipped with bottom drain outlets; then how is the material discharged from these outlets collected? Should a corresponding collection device be installed?
What are the risks associated with the waste discharged, and how should it be handled based on those risks – for example, by recycling it or treating it as hazardous waste. Reference.
The drain outlet is used only when it is necessary to empty the contents of the tank; it remains closed most of the time. Of course, something needs to be used to catch the liquid when it is in use – otherwise would it just be drained directly onto the floor? Remember to use a dual-valve or a single valve + blind flange
I’ve seen two types: in foreign companies, diaphragm pumps are used outside the cofferdam surrounding the end tank of the exposed pipeline, and cubic tanks are used to collect the fluid when it needs to be discharged from the pump outlet. For state-owned enterprises, buried pipes are used, with a small centrifugal pump connected after exiting the cofferdam.
