As a equipment inspection officer, regardless of the industry or company in which one works, there is a series of similar daily work procedures. The difference lies in the fact that since the mechanical equipment varies from industry to industry, the specific methods used by equipment inspection officers in carrying out their tasks also differ. Inspection work is a task closely related to scientific research and production. To ensure that such inspections do not disrupt the normal progress of these activities, it is necessary to develop an inspection plan. In addition to the regular inspections carried out before, during, and after shifts as part of daily checks, specialized inspections require the preparation of an inspection work plan based on the equipment’s responsibilities and classification, as well as on inspection standards, cycles, contents, and the volume of work involved. The inspection work plan must be feasible and safe, ensuring that equipment can be inspected scientifically without disrupting the normal progress of research and production. What are the basic tasks that that equipment inspector has to carry out every day? 01 Determine the daily plans and tasks by attending the meeting in the work area; the team supervisor conveys higher-level instructions as well as various issues related to equipment management in that area, ensuring timely flow of information in both directions. The key points to be inspected on that day are identified, the main tasks for inspection are decided, and preparations are made prior to the inspections. 02 Normal inspection operations (1) Obtain information on the operating status of equipment from the production and operation parties. By reviewing the shift operation logs from the computer management system, it is possible to understand the operation status of the equipment during nighttime, thereby identifying the key items that require inspection. After reviewing these logs, the inspectors must sign both the production operation log and the operation log, and provide written responses to the issues mentioned in the operation logs. (2) Conduct inspections along the designated inspection route; the inspection items include the following: 1) Inspect the items listed on the inspection form along the specified route, using the ‘five senses’ or simple tools for the inspections. The “five senses” are: vision, hearing, touch, smell, and taste. “Basic conditions for “five senses” inspection: “Five senses” inspection: making use of the human body’s vision, hearing, touch, ; Olfactory and gustatory functions are a type of inspection method that allows for an intuitive assessment of the condition of equipment. ①Familiar with the equipment to be inspected, understanding the production process as well as the differences between normal and abnormal equipment, and possessing the basic ability to intuitively detect abnormalities in the equipment. ②Be familiar with the equipment structure. ③Correct judgment: Based on the equipment’s performance, user manual, and design specifications, one is able to accurately determine the equipment’s load status. ④Master various standards: understand the inspection standards and lubrication standards, and by relying on one’s senses and comparing them with these standards, be able to accurately identify signs of abnormalities. ⑤Identify key equipment: Master the evaluation forms for key equipment, and understand these devices as well as their critical components, so as to make the focus of inspection using the ‘five senses’ clearer. ⑥There are operating standard values: various operating standards for the process, such as temperature, pressure, flow rate, pressure loss, speed, etc., must be clear and specific. ⑦Rich practical experience: Experience in identifying and handling abnormalities, enabling the ability to detect equipment issues promptly. 2) Conduct inspections based on the contents of the periodic maintenance schedule, or use precision instruments for trend analysis. 3) Conduct regular inspections on the parts that fail frequently. 4) Conduct further diagnostic inspections on the parts that raised doubts during the operator’s routine checks. 5) Thoroughly inspect those that were repaired or overhauled by the maintenance team the day before or during the night. 6) Addressing the simpler issues found on the equipment during inspections (issues that can be resolved by one person using simple tools). 03 Rest refers to lunch and the rest time after eating. 04 Communication of issues and coordination of solutions: Regarding the problems identified during the morning inspection, the relevant inspectors, supervisors, as well as the maintenance and operation teams discuss these issues to coordinate and develop appropriate solutions. 05 Management Work (1) Plan management: 1) Fill out the work task form. 2) Prepare plans for spare parts and materials. 3) Prepare maintenance project plans. 4) Improve, revise, and establish inspection schedules. (2) Performance records: 1) Inspection records – defects in the equipment condition after the implementation of the inspection plan, along with records of the actions taken to address those defects (including inspection checklists, defect record sheets, cycle management tables, and records of lubrication activities). 2) Trend management measurement records — collection of measurement data, organization and creation of degradation status charts. 3) Fault records – records of the location, details, causes of equipment failures, repairs performed, and countermeasures taken. 4) Maintenance records – details of equipment maintenance, technical records before and after maintenance, labor hours, records, etc. 5) Spare parts consumption record — records of the actual names, quality, quantity, price, etc., of the spare materials. Inspection records serve as valid evidence of the actual condition of the equipment under inspection; they provide a comprehensive description of the equipment’s historical status, maintenance history, and any faults that have occurred. These records are of great value for future maintenance and repair work on the equipment, and they also serve as an important basis for formulating plans for major repairs or overhauls of the equipment. It is required that inspection records be true, accurate, and complete; the handwriting used when filling them out should be clear and legible, the records should be collected fully, and they should be stored carefully to facilitate retrieval. Corresponding requirements are also set regarding the retention period. 06 Work Area Summary (1) Write a work log. Record daily inspections, maintenance, faults, etc. (2) Attend the work area meeting to summarize the work.
