【Haichuan’s Best Practices】Structural upgrade to change the lubrication method for motor bearings

Recently, the Electrical and Instrumentation Workshop of Yulin Refinery carried out a structural upgrade on the high-pressure motor of the 5-million-ton atmospheric pressure feed pump P101/A, changing the original bearing lubrication method to bushing lubrication; the results of this technical modification were satisfactory. 　　Previously, the bearing lubrication used in P101/A was sufficient to meet the requirements of production, but as the equipment has been in operation for longer periods, issues such as frequent maintenance needs and recurring bearing failures have emerged, affecting the safe and stable operation of the unit. To address the aforementioned issues, after thorough research and comprehensive evaluation, the workshop decided to make technical improvements to the lubrication method of the motors. 　　During the technical upgrade, sliding bearings are used for the motors, with self-lubrication via oil rings. Three-wire Pt100 thermistors are installed at the front and rear bearings of the motors, and the motor shafts as well as end caps are replaced. The modified motor was tested under no-load conditions, and it meets the requirements for use in the field. 　　After the technical upgrades were implemented, the motor operated smoothly without any abnormal fluctuations, and all operational parameters remained within the designed ranges, thereby contributing to the safe operation of the equipment. Going forward, this workshop will continue to increase the duration of its stable operation, providing a reliable model and data support for the technical upgrades of other motors, thereby facilitating the steady progress of the optimization and upgrading of rotating equipment.
