【Sea River: Lessons from Others】Jiujiang Petrochemical’s Cross-Team Technical Efforts Yield Results

As of November 20, the two catalytic units at Sinopec Jiujiang Branch have achieved an increase in the octane rating of gasoline; while maintaining a high yield of gasoline, their annual economic value is expected to exceed 10 million yuan. This is the result of the continuous three-month efforts by Jiujiang Petrochemical’s cross-team technical problem-solving team. 　　Faced with the intensifying competition in the refined oil market, this research team abandoned traditional empiricism, conducted numerous experiments, focused on key parameters, and strived to optimize production. They adopted a new approach of using balance agents in place of highly active additives, explored the optimal operating parameters and catalyst ratios for catalytic cracking units, and implemented precise control over the degree of reaction. By establishing a closed-loop management system of \"parameter tracking—data analysis—solution iteration,\" they overcame the challenge of balancing octane number improvement with product quality. Following optimized efforts, the octane number of the catalytic gasoline increased from 89 to 91, while the yield of the product remained above 47%, achieving breakthroughs in both quality and efficiency.
