Washing tower exhaust gas treatment equipment utilizes the contact between gas and liquid to transfer pollutants from the gas into the liquid, and then separates the cleaned gas from the contaminated liquid, thereby achieving air purification. The exhaust gas is treated in a packed scrubber using counter-current gas-liquid absorption, whereby the liquid is sprayed downward from the top of the tower in the form of mist (or small droplets). The waste gas achieves gas-liquid contact through the tower (counter-current flow). This treatment method can cool the exhaust gas, remove particles, and purify the gas; after passing through the demisting stage, it is then released into the atmosphere. So, what should be taken into consideration when using a scrubber as part of waste gas treatment equipment? Below are some points to keep in mind: 1. Before using the waste gas treatment equipment, it is necessary to check whether all the pipes and valves in its systems are in good condition. It’s also important to ensure that the absorbent solution chosen and its concentration are appropriate; if the absorbent solution does not meet the required standards, it needs to be replenished promptly. When starting up, the water pump should be turned on for 3–5 minutes before the fan is started. When shutting down this purification system, the fan should be turned off first for 2–3 minutes before turning off the water pump; it must not be switched off in the wrong order, as this can damage the motor and clog the packing, thereby affecting the purification efficiency. 2. The wiring of the fans and pumps used for exhaust gas treatment and purification must not be altered arbitrarily; it is essential to ensure that their rotation direction is correct – they must not rotate in the opposite direction, as this can damage the motors and lead to accidents. 3. The exhaust gas purification equipment is installed outdoors, and the motors of water pumps and fans should be equipped with rain guards to prevent them from getting wet. Regardless of whether the exhaust gas purification equipment is installed indoors or outdoors, if fiberglass or plastic fans are used, protective covers must be installed to prevent injuries to people in the event that screws loosen, bearings get damaged, debris gets sucked in, or the impeller is damaged, thereby causing accidents. 4. Replacement and preparation of exhaust gas purification liquid: The formula and ratio of the purification absorbent liquid are determined based on the type of gas source and its concentration in the user’s facility. Once the equipment has been properly tested and approved, the specific details will be provided to the user’s management staff. 5. During installation, be careful to protect the equipment and avoid damaging the body and exposed components. When connecting the tower flange to the external flange, the correct tightening method should be used; excessive force must be avoided to prevent cracks in the flanges. Steel gaskets shall not be used for flange gaskets; corrosion- and oil-resistant rubber gaskets may be employed. 6. After the equipment is installed, conduct a cycle test using water; it should operate normally without any signs of leakage, dripping, or blockages. 7. Regularly inspect and maintain water pumps, valves, pipelines, nozzles, filters, etc. to ensure the proper operation of the equipment. 8. To ensure the proper operation of the tower equipment, a dedicated person must be assigned to oversee it. It is necessary to regularly check whether the fans and water pumps are functioning properly, whether the spray pipes and air pipes are unobstructed, whether the liquid level in the reservoir is within the normal range, whether the water-level control switch is working correctly, and whether the gas-liquid concentration is within the specified limits. Any issues detected must be resolved promptly.
