Improvements to the high-pressure steam supply for tower switching in coking. The tower switching cycle in our plant’s coking unit is 24 hours; each time a tower is switched, the thermal electric boilers have to increase their steam production, which leads to higher coal consumption. When the low-pressure level is insufficient, it becomes necessary to adjust the external heat extraction for steam generation or to ask other steam-consuming units to reduce their usage. After the high-pressure steam supply is resumed, all relevant workshops must be informed to resume normal operations. This not only has a significant impact on the overall steam balance of the plant but also puts considerable strain on the low-pressure piping system, increasing the risk of leaks in previously welded areas. Moreover, a steam supply of 15 tons per hour represents a substantial amount of waste. By switching from high-pressure steam to feed water, and by rerouting pipelines such as sulfur purification water and condensate from the hydrogen production workshop to the coking unit, this not only helps achieve a better steam balance across the entire plant but also saves steam and reduces energy consumption. Thirdly, since the sulfur-removed water was previously discharged into the energy valve well, it also reduced the burden on energy resources for wastewater treatment, contributing to the improvement of the quality of wastewater discharged from the entire plant.
