I have a side-reaction column along with a control plate for side-reaction regulation. Today, the amount of material used in side reaction was higher than usual; the liquid level in the reflux line dropped (to full reflux), and the liquid level at the bottom of the column decreased as well. Yet the temperature of the control plate remained lower than normal, which resulted in contamination of the material at the bottom of the column! Is the reboiler too small, or are there other issues with the tower? Could everyone please provide an explanation and some suggestions for adjustments?
Is the backflow too small, causing a deviation in flow?
If the feed flow is stable and there is no change in the level of the bottom liquid, yet the liquid level in the tower bottom decreases, it indicates that the cooling capacity is insufficient; excessive vaporization occurs, and gas-liquid exchange is inadequate, resulting in a deviation in flow. As a result, the parameters at various points in the tower are not correct
The liquid level in the tower bottom decreases, the heat transfer coefficient of the siphon reboiler drops, and the load decreases
So how is the adjustment done?
Could LZ provide a simplified process for this tower to facilitate analysis? The information you have provided alone is not sufficient to make a judgment or give advice.

Looking at your process – one for feeding in and one for discharging – how can separation be achieved? In the case of a separation process that is continuous, there should be at least two outlets. If it’s this diagram, it will be even harder for me to answer your question.
