What is the specific function of the connecting pipe between the bottom of the wastewater stripping tower and the reboiler inlet pipeline? Under what circumstances is it used?
Are you referring to filling the reboiler line? When steam is supplied to the reboiler in large quantities suddenly, gas blockage can occur, which results in poor heat exchange performance by the reboiler. As a consequence, the distillation column cannot function properly, leading to elevated ammonia levels in the purified water. Opening a valve allows the gas inside the reboiler’s shell side to be expelled; by filling the reboiler in this way, its heat exchange efficiency improves. However, such valves should not be kept open all the time, as impurities can accumulate at the bottom of the column, potentially causing scaling on the shell side of the heat exchanger and further reducing its heat exchange efficiency
The make-up line: at startup, there is no water in the reboiler, so heat exchange is not possible; by opening the make-up line and filling it with water, siphon convection-based heat exchange is established
