There are 40 trays in total, with two feed inlets located on the 4th and 8th trays. What is the difference between these two?

More trays are not necessarily better; too many result in greater resistance.

Theoretically, more trays result in better separation efficiency, but an excessive number of trays increases resistance and energy consumption; therefore, more isn’t always better – the number of trays should be determined based on the load. The purpose of the two feed inlets is to change the number of trays.
Does this tower have roof reflux? Here we also have a tower feed inlet divided into three parts, with reflux at the top of the tower. I think it depends on what the purpose of this tower is; if it’s for distillation, material should be fed in from the bottom inlet, while if it’s for rectification, it should be fed in from the top inlet to increase the height of the stripping section below.
