The reflux temperature at the top of the tower is about two degrees higher than the temperature at the top of the tower itself. Moreover, even when the conditions are optimal at the top of the tower, the temperature difference between the bottom of the tower and the top is around 3 degrees; under optimal conditions earlier on, this difference was 1 degree. Everyone, what is the reason for this, and how should it be adjusted?
The temperature at the bottom of the tower is controlled at around 90, while that at the top of the tower is kept around 69. Previously, the sample taken from the top of the tower had a purity of 99.9%, with a temperature difference of about 1 degree between the middle part of the tower and the top; now this difference is around three to four degrees. Moreover, the reflux temperature is even two degrees higher than the temperature at the top of the tower. The thermometers showed normal readings
From the perspective of thermal equilibrium, how could the reflux temperature be higher than the top temperature of the tower if there is no heat source to heat it? Unless there is a problem with the tower top temperature
What type of tower? Bubble column?
Since it is a distillation column, the output from the top of the column is mainly in gaseous form, while the reflux is in liquid form. Logically, to convert gaseous material into a liquid phase, condensation and cooling are required. If the temperature of the returning material is higher than that at the top of the tower, is the material still in a liquid phase? What a strange question. I still need to check if there’s an issue with the temperature measurement
It’s possible there’s a deviation in the flow; check if there’s something wrong with the liquid return distributor. It could also be a problem with the thermometer. This phenomenon doesn’t make sense
At the top of the tower, the liquid phase returns after vapor phase condensation (cooling); what you described doesn’t make sense – check the thermometer
