The operating reflux ratio is generally set at 1.1 to 2 times the minimum reflux ratio. What impact does choosing a different reflux ratio have on the tray design?
Increasing the reflux ratio inevitably reduces the amount of product at the top of the tower, but it improves the concentration. The same is true in reverse.
