What is the actual performance of the IMC methanol synthesis tower in Cassino? Let me offer some initial thoughts: Casali has supplied more than a dozen IMC methanol plants in China, with production capacities ranging from 400,000 tons to 1.2 million tons per plant, all in single-unit configurations. Advantages: 1. Plate-type heat transfer is used, resulting in a large heat exchange area, high loading capacity, and a large scale per tower ; 2. No catalyst is required; the owner can choose one as desired ; 3. Process package optimization, strong engineering capabilities, rapid response from domestic agents ; 4. It is said that there is a production capacity of 7,000 tons in Iran. Disadvantages: 1. IMC components are imported, resulting in a long supply cycle and high prices ; 2. The workload at the site for installing the internal components and loading the catalyst is enormous ; 3. Forced circulation ; 4. High bed temperature, high by-products ; 5. The IMC internals suffer from frequent leakage problems, resulting in poor mechanical reliability. ----- Those who are familiar with the operation of the Casali device or have expertise in this technology, please share their opinions!
It is understood that the 1.2 million-ton methanol production facility at Jinmei Huayu uses the Cassali single-tower process; the installation of the internal components took ten months, and everything is now ready for the catalyst to be installed. Let’s wait and see.
After several replacements of the internal components, Jiutai Energy is ready to start operating the plant again; the success or failure of this project will serve as a test of whether the radial IMC of the Cassali shafts is reliable. After Jutai, Cassali almost withdrew from the methanol market; success or failure hinged on this move
Cassali is quite good at a scale of 600,000 tons; although there were some difficulties along the way, things were later improved significantly, as seen with companies like Xinneng Energy and Changqing. Currently, Xinneng’s Phase II project also relies on Cassali’s technology. Advantages: 1. Patent-related price advantages; 2. Use a smaller circulation ratio ;
Well, thank you for the information. I’ll look into those two devices you mentioned
I’ve consulted with Xineng and Changqing Nenghua as well, and here’s some information for your reference: 1. With Xinao, after starting up the equipment, leaks occurred in the internal components, which required repair and modification; yet problems arose again after the modification, resulting in the loss of one catalyst batch. I drove it again after repairs and ordered a new set of interior parts; the new parts have been in use for half a year now. 2. Changqing has high by-product yields; the owner carried out technical upgrades and installed a 300,000-ton tubular reactor, while the Cassali synthesis tower operates at a low load level throughout. Due to suboptimal performance, the second-phase project did not give Cassali a chance to participate, and Ruchi was chosen instead.
I’m somewhat familiar with Newao’s situation; I was working there for a year by then, and the results were pretty good
