Wet scrubbers used in waste incineration generally employ NaOH solution as the absorbent. The scrubber is structured in two sections: the lower section serves as the cooling and absorption section, while the upper section functions as the temperature reduction and dehumidification section (typically equipped with packing). The question is: why is a demister needed to be installed between the cooling and absorption section and the temperature reduction and dehumidification section? The function of the demister is primarily to remove mist droplets. However, the flue gas that has had its mist droplets removed in the cooling and absorption section still needs to come into contact with the water used for humidification in the temperature and humidity reduction section, which results in the formation of new mist droplets. Isn’t the demisting effect achieved earlier then wasted?
I know that the defogger is placed at the exhaust gas outlet.
Isn’t the spray applied below the demister? If there is no need to add a defogger above
Above is the packing layer, whose function is to facilitate heat and mass transfer, reduce the temperature of the flue gas, and cause some water to condense from the flue gas (the flue gas is already saturated in the absorption section); therefore, water is also sprayed there
