Circulating water is required in the process flow; two cooling towers have been installed. At the far end of the return pipe, there is a 90° elbow that leads directly to the water inlet on the side of the water cooling tower, and there is also a tee connecting to the water inlet on that same side of the water cooling tower. The current situation is that customers report an increase in the temperature of the circulating water. Upon inspection, it was found that there is water only at the outlet on the far end, while there is no water at the inlet at all – not a single drop. The return water pressure measured is 0.202 MPa. Only one main return valve is installed for the return water; the span of the pipes is 1.5 meters, and their vertical height is 3.9 meters. Return pipe DN150. May I ask why this is?
The pump’s outlet pipe is 150, and the two branch pipes also have no valves and are 150 as well. One is a 90° elbow, and the other is a tee.
Water will definitely flow in the direction where there is less resistance. You can install a valve at the far end to increase the pipeline losses there accordingly. Otherwise, change the distribution pattern of the tee, from inlet in the middle to outlets at both ends, so that the layout of the branch pipes is the same. You can also try using a Y-shaped tee.

What are the flow rate and head on the pump’s nameplate? Is the total flow rate of the two pumps over 150 cubic meters?
The flow rate per unit is 50 cubic meters per hour, with a head of 39 M.
The pressure inside the cold water towers is different; it seems there are two towers from the photos. How many cooling fans are there?

There are two water towers on site, one in use and one as a backup, but only one can be seen in the photos.
