For the shutdown protection of methanol synthesis towers, in summer we generally use water injection on the shell side for protection and N2 on the tube side. Are there any better methods for protection to prevent rust and corrosion? I would appreciate some guidance from the more experienced experts here.
The principle of rust and corrosion is primarily a chemical reaction between metal and oxygen, which causes oxidation of the metal surface. Therefore, the best way to prevent equipment from rusting and corroding after long periods of idling is to use nitrogen protection to maintain a slight positive pressure
