What is the purpose of setting this high-temperature interlock? Seeking advice, thank you

Is the poster referring to the heat regeneration return tank? For thermal regeneration return tanks, there generally seems to be no temperature interlock, but there is a temperature interlock on the pump body of the return pump (which is usually a canned pump); the pump stops operating when the temperature reaches the high-high interlock value. I’m not sure if what I said is the same as what the original poster wants to ask.
It would be best to include a flowchart and an explanation of the sequential logic to facilitate analysis and discussion?
To prevent a large amount of methanol from entering the system, when the interlock is triggered, steam to the two towers is stopped
Upon activation of this interlock, the steam to the regeneration tower and the methanol-water separation tower is stopped, thereby preventing waste of methanol caused by the high thermal load in the regeneration tower leading to methanol entering the system!
