Award Decision for the Procurement of 8 Tower Equipment Units for the Ethylene Glycol Plant in the Shenhua Yulin Circular Economy Coal Comprehensive Utilization Project (Phase I) Author/Source: Huahua Network – Coal Chemicals Date: 10-12-2018 Clicks: 44 Recently, the bidding process for the procurement of 8 tower equipment units for the ethylene glycol plant as part of the Shenhua Yulin Circular Economy Coal Comprehensive Utilization Project (Phase I) was completed, and a list of candidates who won the bids was published. The scope of this project tender includes: the manufacturing, testing, on-site assembly, commissioning, transportation, and insurance of the corresponding equipment and materials for the 8 tower units in the ethylene glycol plant, as well as spare parts, specialized tools, technical documentation, performance guarantees; and technical services such as personnel training, technical coordination, and technical guidance. (The specific breakdown of the contract packages, delivery times, delivery locations, as well as technical parameters such as equipment names and models are listed in the attached table titled “List of Goods for Bidding”). The Shenhua Yulin Circular Economy Coal Comprehensive Utilization Project (CTC Project) was approved for implementation by the **National Development and Reform Commission in March 2015. It is the largest coal chemical project in the world to date, with a planned total investment of 120 billion yuan. The first-phase project of the Shenhua Yulin Circular Economy Coal Comprehensive Utilization Project is a preliminary phase of this project (the CTC Project). It also serves as a facility for producing methanol raw materials to support the already completed Shenhua Shaanxi Methanol Downstream Processing Project (SSMTO). The construction scope includes an annual production capacity of 1.8 million tons of methanol along with 400,000 tons of ethylene glycol per year. The facility comprises various process units such as air separation, coal gasification, shift reaction, acidic gas removal, methanol synthesis, sulfur recovery, and ethylene glycol production, along with the necessary utility systems and auxiliary facilities. Once completed, it will enable integrated production and management together with the SSMTO project. The project is located in the northern area of the Qingshui Coal Chemical Industry Park within the Yushen Industrial Zone, with the plan to bring the facilities online by 2020. The first-phase project of Shenhua Yulin Circular Economy Coal Comprehensive Utilization Project (SYCTC-1 project) has a total investment of 13.6 billion yuan. The project is located in the northern area of the Qingshui Coal Chemical Industry Park within the Yushen Industrial Zone, and its main scope of work involves the construction of a coal-to-methanol plant with an annual production capacity of 1.8 million tons, which will also generate 12*10,000 cubic meters per hour of usable gas.

It seems that the methanol plant will be built first; subsequently, a 400,000-ton ethylene glycol plant will also be constructed. I wonder how much it would cost to use GE’s technology for gasification? Domestic technology is already quite advanced.
