We have a desulfurization tower that uses alkali for treatment; the wastewater generated is discharged into a sedimentation tank. The concrete walls of this tank are severely corroded – what would be the effect of using an anti-corrosion coating to protect them?
This is because flue gas is generally treated using the ammonia method or lime water treatment inside the desulfurization tower. The composition of the condensed water treated is quite complex; for example, wastewater contains large amounts of acidic and alkaline substances as well as salts, which cause severe corrosion to both metallic and non-metallic materials. However, this issue can be resolved by using anti-corrosion coatings; it is better to choose coatings that offer good cost-performance. It would be better to have coatings with superior resistance to penetration and corrosion, along with practical application examples in this area.
