Question: In an alkaline scrubber, which uses alkaline solutions to remove gases such as hydrogen sulfide and thiols from exhaust gases, can the wastewater generated be discharged directly into the company’s sewage system? Because the company currently does not have a sewage treatment plant.
May I ask the original poster, is another wastewater treatment system needed?

The foul gases generated by the wastewater treatment plant itself (such as H2S, NH3, methanethiol, etc.) are removed through alkaline washing and other treatment processes. The wastewater generated by the alkali washing tower is generally also discharged directly into the sewage treatment plant. However, for a company’s drainage system, it depends on whether it deals with domestic wastewater or industrial wastewater; the standards in that case should be different. I’m not really sure either; I’m a beginner. Waiting for an expert to answer.

Neutralization method, involving the use of carbon dioxide or sulfuric acid to neutralize alkaline residues and waste liquids in order to adjust the pH value, after which the mixture is sent to a wastewater treatment plant for biological treatment. 3. Wet air oxidation (WAO): Under high temperature and pressure conditions, oxygen from the air is used as an oxidant to oxidize organic substances in the liquid phase into inorganic substances such as carbon dioxide and water, or into smaller organic molecules. Or, under low temperature and pressure, the alkaline compounds in the alkali slag can be oxidized into salts; however, this method does not yield satisfactory results in terms of COD removal and is also costly. 4. Chemical oxidation method: this involves using chemical reagents as oxidants. 5. Reuse: use the alkaline slag as an absorption medium for flue gas desulfurization and denitration.
1. Consult the local environmental protection agency and the wastewater treatment plant regarding their requirements for what can be discharged. 2. Obtain approval from the environmental assessment authorities regarding the emission standards and total amounts that may be released. 3.
