The waste gas is treated by spraying it with a potassium permanganate solution, and the spray towers and pipes are made of PP material. The problem was leaks in the tower structure and the water tank; even a small amount of potassium permanganate leaking out could cause large areas to turn black, which is unsightly. The reason for this issue might be the strong oxidizing power of potassium permanganate, which can cause corrosion of the welds and lead to leaks. I am considering using an FRP material for the spray tower, with an antioxidant resin applied to its surface. I’m not sure about the feasibility of this approach – what kind of resin would be suitable, and how difficult would it be to apply that resin after the tower is manufactured? If this solution isn’t viable or if the quality of the installation cannot be guaranteed, leaks may still occur even after making the change. Are there any other materials available? How about PVC? Generally, small water pipes connected to PVC use glue, while the connections between tower components are made by welding; in some cases, glue may also be used. I’m not sure whether leaks might occur as a result of prolonged exposure to potassium permanganate. Does anyone have any experience or relevant information to share?

I’ve never encountered the use of potassium permanganate for spraying; generally, sodium hydroxide or dilute sulfuric acid is used. FRP towers are also employed in such applications. If oxidation is required, an ozone generator can be added at the beginning of the process to use ozone for oxidation. I’m not sure what type of waste gas you have.
Treating waste gas with potassium permanganate also generates wastewater, which is difficult to handle. I wonder how you handled it?
