Coking slag is routed to the bottom of the distillation tower

What are the effects if coking slag flows down to the bottom of the distillation tower in a significant amount, and how should it be dealt with? Please, experts, share your opinions

It is basically unaffected, because in the past, before switching to an adjustable recycle ratio, the reduced-pressure residue would pass through the heat exchange system and then go to the bottom of the distillation tower; from there it was pumped out using a radial pump and sent to the heater!
