Are there anyone who works at a large design institute? I’d like to know. Isn’t it more convenient to use 3D modeling for designing equipment structures, even if 2D drawings need to be delivered in the end?
I also feel that 2D computational drafting has only been around for about 20 years, while 3D drafting is even newer; the first generation of designers who learned 2D drafting are still not retired yet. Another thing is the 2D approach taught by the instructor; once you get used to it, you just don’t bother to change it
Since the original poster isn’t from a manufacturing factory, they’re only talking theoretically and relying on their own reasoning. At present, the 2D drawings have complete dimensions and are clear, which is useful for manufacturing. Although 3D drawings are more complex, you can rotate them on a computer and use different colors to make them easier to see; but how can you expect workers to work with such drawings?
If 3D printing technology reaches its full potential, 3D modeling will certainly become widespread in many industries. At this stage, you still use 4D drawing, and workers are needed to read the drawings for processing, welding, inspection, etc.
