After modifying the top condenser of our distillation column by adding a U-tube design, the column pressure tends to drop when the load increases, along with audible noises resulting from the collision of gas and liquid in the reflux tank. Could anyone please explain why this is happening?
When fluid accumulates in the U-tube, a liquid seal is formed; when the tower pressure rises to a certain level and overcomes this liquid seal, the tower pressure drops, accompanied by audible noises resulting from the collision of gas and liquid in the reflux tank.
Why was it modified? It is recommended to add a balance wire
