The stabilizer tower has three feed inlets: upper, middle, and lower. Why is the upper inlet used in summer while the lower inlet is used in winter?
Logically, during summer when temperatures are high, it is advisable to use the lower feed inlet; an increased number of trays in the distillation section facilitates distillation. In winter, when temperatures are low, the upper feed inlet should be used. However, the selection of the feed inlet also depends on the requirements of the top and bottom products of the tower; furthermore, in China, it is required that the vapor pressure of gasoline be lower in summer than in winter.
