Successful Installation of Two Light-End Removal Towers in the Ethylene Glycol Plant of Guangxi Huayi Industrial Gas Island Project Author/Source: Huahua Network – Coal Chemicals Date: July 31, 2020 Clicks: 67 On July 26, the installation of the two tallest towers in the ethylene glycol plant of Guangxi Huayi Industrial Gas Island project, which was undertaken under EPC contract by Donghua Technology, was successfully completed – namely the two light-end removal towers (177-T-1003/2003). On the afternoon of July 26, after a loud whistle, the second light-end removal tower for the ethylene glycol production facility at Donghua Technology’s Guangxi Huayi Industrial Gases complex was slowly lifted into the air by a 1,000-ton crawler crane. With the assistance of a 280-ton slinging crane, the tower was raised to an upright position, moved forward, then the slinging crane released it so that it could be placed in its intended location – all in one smooth operation. At 18:00, amid the sound of firecrackers, the tower settled steadily on its foundation, marking the successful completion of the lifting operation. The two light-end removal towers (177-T-1003/2003) are located in the EG distillation unit; they weigh 230 tons, have a diameter of 4.8 meters, and a height of 75 meters. The two degassing towers arrived at the site in mid-June. After more than a month of preparation, and through the coordinated efforts of Donghua Technology, Sinochem Sixth Construction, Shenlong Anti-corrosion, and the Heavy Lifting Company, the first degassing tower was installed on the 24th, and the second one was installed on the 26th, thus completing the task as planned.
