A pipe is connected to the top outlet pipe of the distillation tower and then linked to the bottom of the tower – what is the purpose of this pipe?
Distillation towers have a wide range of applications, and this depends on the process requirements you have. To understand why this is the case, it’s necessary to provide a diagram of the process – visuals make things clearer. Let’s guess that it might be returning to the tower bottom, where it is vaporized through a reboiler, thus continuing to serve as the source of rising steam to facilitate further purification.

The actual boiling point distillation apparatus is designed for automatic heating control. The pipes at the top and bottom of the tower are connected to the same pressure controller and are not interconnected.
Could it be a pressure difference measuring tube???:o
