Can the side-stream extraction from the adjacent tower be stopped? What are the operational differences between extracting and not extracting from the side stream of the adjacent tower?
The partitioned column is a type of composite distillation column. Conventional distillation columns are generally used to separate two components, while the partitioned column is designed on the basis of a regular distillation column; a partition is installed within a certain range of trays in the middle of the column, dividing it into two sections. Feed can be introduced on one side of the partition, and a third product can be obtained from the other side.
I’m not sure what your goal is; since no product is taken from the side stream, do you want to carry out a full reflux operation? That’s certainly fine. If you still want to extract the product, if not from the side stream, then where do you want to extract it from? The purity of products obtained from other locations is likely to be poor
Ours is an adjacent column used in the catalytic stabilizer; normally, LPG is taken from the top of the column, stabilized gasoline from the bottom, and light naphtha (C5-C6) from a side stream. If nothing is taken from the side stream, it goes into the gasoline at the bottom of the column.
If the specifications allow light naphtha to enter the bottom gasoline stream, it may not be necessary to take it off via a side stream
