Why does the amount of toluene in the toluene-water azeotrope decrease after adding a filler?

I want to test the effect of toluene on the underwater hose. The setup consists of a simple distillation apparatus plus a water separator. When I added glass packing at the rising pipe location in front of the straight-type condenser, the water volume remained unchanged; why then did the amount of toluene decrease?
There’s a problem with your question: how can the toluene content change if the water content remains unchanged? Adding fillers can only make the toluene/water ratio more close to the azeotropic ratio
That can’t be right; if you say that, it means there’s an imbalance in the materials.
