Case Study: Industry: Chemicals; Customer: Producers of asphalt and high-end lubricants; Location of use: Expansion joint in the acid removal tower; Temperature: < 200°C; Medium: Acidic gases; Pressure: Slightly positive pressure. Problems encountered: The medium inside this expansion joint is acidic, which is corrosive, and its flange surfaces have certain defects due to machining issues. The gaskets used previously were not able to compensate for these defects, resulting in seal failure. Proposed solution and customer benefits: After testing and analysis, the technicians recommended installing Fle*ngSeal SF100 industrial sealing tape. Firstly, this gasket is made of 100% pure polytetrafluoroethylene; it can withstand high and low temperatures, as well as acids, alkalis, and corrosion, and it is resistant to aging, offering a long service life. Secondly, the Fle*ngSeal®SF100 high-performance sealing strip features a highly fibrous internal structure with a more uniform distribution of its microstructure. It boasts improved filling properties and creep resistance, as well as – and this is particularly important – consistent sealing performance, which enables it to effectively compensate for errors in the flange surface of the expansion joint caused by machining defects. In addition, Fle*ngSeal® comes with adhesive on its back, making installation easy; it can provide a tight seal that fits the contours, thus saving time on gasket production and installation and reducing downtime costs. II. Introduction to Fle*ngSeal industrial sealing tape: Fle*ngSeal sealing material is a porous, expanded tape manufactured using a special process. This material is soft, compressible, and easy to shape; it can form a good seal at the minor cracks and defects in the sealing interface under low pressure, thereby effectively protecting brittle structural materials and ensuring a secure seal. For non-metallic components such as glass, ceramics, graphite, and plastics, Fle*ngSeal sealing materials can also achieve good sealing results. It can better compensate for errors caused by machining defects, rigid deformation, misalignment during installation, etc., balance uneven pre-tensioning forces, and effectively address leakage issues of various gases and liquids under complex conditions.
