What is the difference between a centrifugal pump’s balance disk, balance drum, and balance tube?

Difference: Balanced drum – radial throttling clearance, axially relatively stationary (the rotor does not shift), with large residual axial force, requiring dual axial support. The balancing effect is poor. Multi-stage pumps used for mechanical seals. Balance disc – axial throttling clearance, prevents axial rotor movement, eliminates residual axial force, and no axial support is required. The balance effect is good. Multi-stage pumps used solely with packing seals have balance tubes outside the pump, which are visible.
