There is a solenoid valve on the suction pump pipeline; I’m not sure what its purpose is. Diagram

The function of a check valve is to prevent siphoning and ensure that no fluid remains inside the pump.
Stop the pump, open the valve to drain the liquid in the inlet pipeline and prevent siphoning

Our self-priming pump has been broken, but we haven’t replaced it; every time we use it, we have to prime the pump
Turn it off when starting the pump, and open the air inlet when stopping the pump to allow the water in the pipeline to drain, preventing the water inside the pump casing from flowing out as well; otherwise, the pump will need to be filled with water again before it can be started next time. With this valve, pumping is only required the first time; there’s no need to pump again afterward. When the pump is started, the motor is powered on and the valve closes; if no flow occurs, the most likely reason is that the valve is leaking
