Since the filling of lubricants is the responsibility of the production workshop, I haven’t paid attention to it usually. It has been found that the centrifugal pumps and cycloidal reducers used in the workshop all operate with anti-wear hydraulic oil. I would like to ask if this type of usage is appropriate?

It is necessary to understand the functions of different types of oils: hydraulic oil is primarily used for transmission purposes, while gear oil serves mainly as a lubricant. Of course, in situations where strict requirements do not apply and the load is low, one can use them interchangeably without major problems; however, long-term use may cause some damage to the equipment. Both types of oils can serve to provide lubrication and heat dissipation.
Basically, there’s no big problem. Our centrifugal pumps are all equipped with used engine oil taken from the unit’s oil station. As long as the acid value, moisture content, and impurities are within acceptable limits, it can still be used.
I agree with the opinion from the second floor: the cycloidal reducer should be switched to gear oil as soon as possible in order to extend its service life. It is recommended to use synthetic extreme pressure gear oil (since very little of this oil is consumed), and the appropriate type should be chosen based on the ambient temperature.
