In this process where fluid flows into a storage tank due to its own weight, can adding a pump to the system increase the flow rate?
With the pipe diameter remaining unchanged, increasing the flow rate will raise the volume of flow. Pumps are used to increase the flow rate; if the pipe size is small, it is recommended to increase the pipe diameter, as pumps consume electricity
The reason for asking this question is that we have a process by which flow can occur due to its own weight, but there is a pump in between; we are considering the reasons and necessity for installing this pump
If the requirements can be met by natural flow, then there’s no need to install a pump, right?
