Hello everyone, I would like to ask what are the main differences in usage between diaphragm pumps and piston pumps? I want to transport oily sludge with a oil content of 30%, a water content of 15%, and the rest being soil. Should I use a diaphragm pump or a plunger pump?
If the pressure is not high, choose a diaphragm pump. Additionally, diaphragm pumps have relatively lower requirements regarding the cleanliness of the material compared to piston pumps. So, it is recommended to choose a diaphragm pump.
The sludge still contains oily soil – does this have an impact on the diaphragm pump?
Is the oil content high? Are you worried about not being able to draw it in? Or other concerns. For high pressure (above 7 kilograms), a piston pump is chosen; for normal pressure (below 7 kilograms), a diaphragm pump is used. Of course, there are exceptions; high-pressure diaphragm pumps can also achieve pressures of over ten kilograms.
Pneumatic diaphragm pumps can directly handle powders. Although hydraulic diaphragm pumps do not have this capability, they generally have no problems handling materials with solids present; just choose the right type of check valve
The solid content has exceeded the limit of the pneumatic diaphragm pump. The results will definitely not be good. It is recommended to choose screw pumps, hose pumps, slurry pumps, or high-pressure diaphragm pumps, etc. Depends on flow pressure
May I ask what the general requirement is for the solid content level?
55% solids – pumps with check valves don’t work well for this~~~ Pumps designed for high flow rates also have low efficiency~~~ Use a screw pump instead!
