As the title suggests, I would like to ask: what types of media are diaphragm pumps and canned motor pumps generally used for transporting? I see many factories using shielded pumps; mainly, I don’t understand the working principle of these two types of pumps. Those who do understand it could please explain: P
The media used in our facilities are mostly shielded pumps, and this is determined primarily by the properties of the medium itself; leaks must be avoided, as any leakage into the air can cause corrosion of the equipment and the production of white smoke. Therefore, a shielded pump with no leaks and good sealing performance is required.
Well said. I’d like to add that diaphragm pumps are suitable for applications where liquids containing particles, viscous substances, or corrosive materials need to be transported, as well as in situations that require high self-priming capacity

Shielded pumps belong to the category of centrifugal pumps; like magnetic drive pumps, they are also sealless pumps that are primarily used for transporting toxic, harmful, or valuable liquids. Centrifugal pumps are relatively easy to operate, with no pulsation in flow rate. Diaphragm pumps belong to the category of positive displacement pumps, and their flow rate is pulsatory. Diaphragm metering pumps are generally used in applications where metering is required; they typically have a low flow rate but high pressure.
They are generally used to transport toxic and hazardous liquids, as well as strong acids and strong bases
