This is the form tolerance value for a cylindrical workpiece. Radial total runout refers to the degree of deviation of the cylindrical surface of a cylindrical workpiece from an ideal cylindrical surface at various points. Place a dial indicator on the shaft; as the shaft rotates one full turn, the value displayed on the indicator represents the amount of play
Total runout is the sum of the surface shape tolerance and the coaxiality position tolerance
I have a question: I use a bracket to support the shaft, and a magnetic base to fix the dial indicator. When the shaft is rotated by one full turn, the maximum reading on the dial indicator represents the circular runout at a certain point on the shaft. Is this value also the total runout? The symbols used to represent these two values are different. Please give some guidance. Thank you
