Dear experts, our facility has a vertical high-risk pump with double-end face sealing, and the fluid used is light carbon tetrafluoride. Previously, the oil cooling line of the oil seal tank was always warm, but suddenly it became very cold, which caused the temperature of the mechanical seal to rise significantly. The oil cooling line was disconnected to check that both the supply and return paths were unobstructed, with no blockages; no gas leaked out even after the exhaust valve at the very top was closed. I would like to ask the experts here to help figure out where the problem lies
Check the process to see if there are any valves that are closed or set to a limited flow rate
Do you mean the cooling line for the seal oil tube by oil cooling line? Should it be the oil-sealing material for the inlet/outlet pipelines of the sealing chamber? It seems like you didn’t explain it clearly
While ensuring the safety of operators and those on site, when the pump is running, loosen the union fittings at both ends of the oil pipe in order, from high pressure to low pressure. Depending on the nature of the leaking fluid, check whether the pressure and temperature are within normal ranges — this is a risky and direct makeshift method; proceed with caution.
We have encountered this problem as well. Same pump, same problem. Where are you from? If you have time, you can send some photos from the site so we can discuss in detail
The liquid level in the oil-sealed tank is too low; add some!
Is it circulated through siphonic action due to height differences?
Is it pressurized or non-pressurized? It indicates that there is no circulating power; is there a pumping loop? I didn’t ask the machine seal manufacturer to add a pumping ring and give it a try.
What is the temperature of the oil-sealed tank? Also, what is the flow rate when the oil cooling pipeline is disconnected for flushing? Is the cooling medium too dirty? Could it be that the cooling tube inside the oil seal tank has leaked, causing the cooling medium to mix with the transport medium?
