It is a stainless steel pipe with an outer diameter of 18 and an inner diameter of 12. The temperature of the water inside the pipe is 350 degrees, and the pressure is 25 MPA. Can this pipe be welded using socket welding? Welding by butt joint requires non-destructive testing, and such conditions are not available; I’m not sure whether socket welding will suffice

Butt welding clearly offers better stress resistance and pressure tolerance compared to socket welding. However, when high pressures and high temperatures are involved, and the method still needs to be reliable without the need for additional testing, that creates a contradiction; P
I understand that butt welding is definitely the better option, but there are no facilities available for non-destructive testing. I think the pressure resistance requirements specified in the socket welding standards are sufficient; it’s just that due to a lack of experience, I’m not sure whether to use socket welding
For this diameter, socket welding is sufficient!
