When purchasing a centrifugal pump, is it necessary to provide bearings for the motor? Is it necessary to have spare pump casings and rotors available for centrifugal pumps? Should we have a set of couplings as well? Should we stock some elastic elements for the flexible coupling?
The scope and quantity of spare parts are determined based on the following factors: For enterprises: 1. The importance of the equipment determines the scope and quantity of spare parts needed; especially in cases where downtime or prolonged interruptions in operation could cause significant impacts and losses on production, it is necessary to have more spare parts on hand. 2. Based on the rate of consumption of the equipment’s vulnerable parts, those that are used up quickly and require frequent replacement should have more spare parts stocked.
Suppliers: 1. For suppliers with whom there is a long-term, stable partnership, who have a good reputation, sufficient capabilities, provide timely service, and have short delivery times, fewer spare parts need to be stocked. 2. If the supplier offers standard products and has ample stock of spare parts, and purchases are not limited to just that supplier, then fewer spare parts are necessary. However, in cases where the products are custom-designed and only produced for a specific customer or discontinued soon after production, more spare parts should be kept. There is no distinction between different types of spare parts, nor is there much variation in their quantities; it all depends on the equipment and the company. The ultimate goal is to ensure that high-quality spare parts are available promptly in case of equipment failures, so that the equipment can be repaired and brought back into operation as soon as possible
If you have all of these in stock, it only shows that you really have plenty of money. If the bearings of the motor are well maintained, it should work fine for three years. The probability of the pump casing and rotor breaking down is very low, unless there are large impurities in the fluid – but such situations are rare. Regarding the coupling, the same advice applies as for the pump casing

The vulnerable components of a pump usually include the pin bolts and spring washers of the elastic coupling (it’s especially important to have extra spring washers), the bearings in the pump body, the packing seal, the impeller, and the rotor (for a regular water pump at normal temperature, one set of these components is sufficient). A motor needs to be provided. It should be noted here that spare parts depend on whether there are shared or common components across the company’s overall equipment. The number and importance of your similar devices also need to be adjusted according to their actual usage period. This requires an experienced person to guide it, otherwise it would also be a loss.
